Choosing an accounting firm in Singapore comes down to three checks: is it a real, registered entity, who signs the work, and what exactly is in the fee. The official tools are free and take about ten minutes. The list at the end of this page names only firms where we could read the facts ourselves.
This page comes from SingaporeCompanySetupGuide.com, an independent guide. We are not ACRA, IRAS or an accounting firm. Some providers pay us a referral fee when a request we pass on turns into a client, and we mark no firm as better than another here.
How do I check an accounting firm in Singapore?
Use Bizfile, the ACRA search service.
- Search the firm by name or UEN in the Entity tab. ACRA says this shows basic information such as live status and registered address.
- If the firm also offers company secretary or incorporation work, open the profile and read the CSP registration details at the bottom.
- For an audit, search the person in the People tab with the 5-digit Public Accountant registration number. Active means current.
- Match the legal name on the register to the engagement letter and the invoice.
A firm that will not give its UEN or the name of the signing person has told you something.
Do I need a public accountant?
Only for audits. ACRA states that under the Accountants Act you must register as a public accountant to provide auditing and reporting on financial statements. Bookkeeping, payroll and tax filing do not carry that rule. Our audit firms page covers audits, and the audit exemption guide tells you whether you can skip one.
How do I let a firm file tax for my company?
Your company authorises the firm in Corppass. IRAS says the client first sets up its Corppass Administrator account, then authorises the tax agent firm for IRAS e-Services, and grants Preparer and Approver roles where the firm needs both. A client can authorise more than one firm per tax type, subject to validation rules. See our Corppass guide and the tax agent page.
What should the fee cover?
Ask for these lines in writing:
| Line | Question |
|---|---|
| Bookkeeping | How many transactions a month are included? |
| Annual accounts | Are they full financial statements or only a management summary? |
| Tax | Does the fee include the estimated chargeable income filing and the Form C-S? |
| GST | Is registration and quarterly filing included? |
| Payroll | Is CPF submission included, and what is the per head charge? |
| Exit | How do I get my records and in what format? |
Our guides to bookkeeping and accounting services explain the usual packages.
Which accounting firms have published facts we could verify?
We list only firms where we read the firm's page and the ACRA entity record. This is not a ranking and it is not complete. Facts were read in .
